First things first. The title
"Coyote Ugly" is not directly related to this
movie's content. Second, this movie is one of those
coming-of-age dramas albeit with a little more maturity.
Third, the movie boasts a cast of beautiful women.
The movie tells of Violet
Sanford (Piper Perabo), a girl form the town of South Amboy,
New Jersey, who decides to go to New York to try her luck as a
songwriter. It's at this point that reality strikes. Not one
recording company wants to listen to her demo. On top of that,
her apartment is broken into. Down on her luck and out of
money, our heroine chances upon a bar called "Coyote
Ugly" that hires only female bartenders. Predictably, she
gets a job there. And that's where all the fun in the movie
starts. Love interest, crazy bar job and new friends, her
prospects start to look up.
Story-wise, in my opinion, it's
nothing new. Maybe a few good points here and there, but the
basic idea stands. However, the memorable part of this movie
isn't its story or solid acting. The stand out point has to be
its highly provocative bar scenes. Why do I say that? Just
imagine 2-3 beautiful women dancing wildly on top of a bar
counter. Throw in lots of sexual innuendoes, and you'll get
the picture.
This movie will definitely have
the guys drooling. No doubt about that, with the likes of Tyra
Banks, and Polish actress Miko. The women should find the
story interesting enough. Though, I guess when this movie was
made, it wasn't aimed at the female audience. But, well,
everyone has their own preferences, so if you like
friendship/love dramas, watch 'Coyote Ugly'.
To sum it all up, 'Coyote Ugly'
is an interesting ride with its hot dances and pretty faces,
but it's not a movie I would watch more than once. Oh, and
added bonus for those who watch this movie, LeAnn Rimes
appears to sing a song at the end of the movie.
